5. Public Water Supplies

Public water supplies in the watershed are all supplied by groundwater sources expect for the city of Marysville which utilizes surface water from Mill Creek for two thirds of their drinking water supply.  The Darby Creek watershed has no surface water removal for water supplies.  The Ohio Environmental Protection Agency (OEPA) created a database providing the name and location of all public water supplies in the state.  A total of 171 public water supplies exist in the watershed and have been documented in a series of maps by county in Appendix E.  The location and name of each public water supply is provided on the maps.

The majority of the population within the Darby Creek Watershed uses groundwater as its source of water.  Only the City of Marysville which serves residents in New California uses surface water from Mill Creek as their source of drinking water.  No cities or villages utilize the Darby Watershed as a drinking water source.
